Passport Requirements - Updates

The United States Government has updated their policy on the new passport requirements in as
follows:

1.  Beginning January 24, 2007, all travelers traveling BY AIR will be required to carry with
them a valid passport when traveling outside of the United States, including Mexico, the
Caribbean, Central and South America and Canada.

2.  Beginning June 1, 2009, all travelers traveling BY SEA OR LAND (INCLUDING
FERRIES), including Mexico, the Caribbean or Canada, will be required to provide a U.S.
Passport.  Other documents may be acceptable (such as Trusted Travelers Card, U.S. Passport
Card, State Issued Enhanced Driver's License, U.S. Military Identification, or Native American
Tribal Photo Identification Card).

U.S. Territories such as Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, America Samoa, Swains
Island, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands do not fall under these new
passport requirements.

Beginning February 1, 2008, applications for the new Passport Card will be accepted.  This card
will allow US citizens to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean or Bermuda by LAND or SEA ports of
entry.  THIS CARD IS NOT VALID FOR AIR TRAVEL.  It will otherwise carry all of the
same rights as the U.S. Passport Book.  The current cost of the card is $45 for adults, and $35
for children.  If you already have a passport, you may apply for the card as a passport renewal
and only pay $20.

To obtain a passport for the first time, you must apply in person with two passport sized photos
of yourself, proof of U.S. citizenship (such as a certified birth certificate), and a government
issued ID (such as a current, valid driver’s license).  The current rate for a new passport is $100
per adult, or $85 for children 16 and under, if you choose the normal processing time of 6
weeks.  If you choose to have your passport expedited (two week processing time), expect to
pay an additional fee of $60 per person.

To renew your passport, you may renew either by mail or in person.  The current rate for
renewing your passport is $75, plus $60 if you choose to have your passport expedited.

Please be aware that the rates above are subject to change.  Please ask your agent or contact
your local post office to confirm all fees.
